Was I dreaming or teleporting: My “Inside-Out” Remix


I recently saw Inside-Out 2, the movie and totally loved it. This gave me an idea to combine another story I wrote with the emotions of the movie. Let me start by sharing the key of the colors in my story:


Red: Anger

Blue: Sadness

Yellow: Joy

Green: Disgust

Purple: Fear

Orange: Anxiety 

Pink: Embarrassment

Turquoise: Envy

Dark Purple : Ennui

Lime: Pouchie


Riley and her friends were at the hockey camp hanging out. She noticed another group of girls too. They were the popular girls from the Firehawks high school hockey team. Val, one of the girls, asked Riley to join their group. “We should say yes! It’s always good to make new friends”. ”They are so popular we have to fix our style so we have to reject”. ”What if they bully us or lock us in a dark closet?” ”Fear, don’t think too much, we should just go with the flow.”  She decided to join the other group. However, Riley’s old friends just thought she was paired with Val and her gang for the hockey drills. Grace and Bree were unaware that she was hanging out with the other group of girls. 


Riley’s friends started noticing that she wasn't spending time with them anymore but instead with the other group. “We should tell our old friends so we can be with new friends”. ”I agree with Anxiety, we should go tell them”. ”We shouldn't tell them, that would hurt their feelings”. ”I’m sorry Joy but we’re the future of Riley and she doesn’t need you guys”. ”We’re Riley’s life!!!”. “I’m sorry but goodbye”. Riley gathered the courage to tell her old friends that she would be hanging out with Val and the group. She didn't know how her friends would react. But as expected, all her friends were angry at her. Riley left with tears” Why did Riley leave them..”. She felt like she had lost her best friends but didn't have the courage to own up to her actions.


In her heart, she was thinking about why she agreed to join the popular group and leave her friends hanging. In her heart, she prayed that night. The next day Riley woke up feeling even more sad. She ate her breakfast and headed outside for a walk and was suddenly in a big shock. She saw a big box that said “Open me if you dare this could be your last time on earth so beware!”. This triggered many thoughts in Riley’s head. “Should we open it? “What is it? Ahhhh…I'm anxious” “Stop being a kid and just open it like normal”.



Riley opened the box and found a bunch of instructions that would take her somewhere, but where? She carefully read the instructions. The first one was to go to the park and find the area with the most trees. ”We should go. Let’s skip hockey camp for this”.  Over there she found a message that said to go to the back alley behind the well to find a final clue. This all seemed so weird but she kept going. After a couple of minutes. She reached that well and a mysterious man with a cape came up to her and said “If you want the final instruction then you have to answer this riddle. She said ok and was ready for the challenge. The man asked her, “If a cowboy rode into town on Friday and stayed for 3 nights and rode out on Friday. How is this possible”? 


This was a tough riddle but she was determined to solve it. Unfortunately Riley gave up. ”This is so embarrassing we were almost about to get that final clue and then we couldn't get it”  and the man said “Sorry you're not getting that final instruction.” This just annoyed her so she kept thinking until she finally got it and shouted “His horse’s name is Friday”! The mysterious man was very surprised and gave her the final instruction. It read “Thank you, now go back to your room!”. Riley was very confused and thought that was uncalled for. “Was this the final clue? I thought it would have been much more exciting.” But anyway she ran back to her room. She opened the door and found a huge time machine that was powering up right in front of her eyes. Riley was in awe and couldn't believe what she was setting. There was a note on the machine that said wait patiently. She thought to herself, “Really now?” I know I am supposed to be patient but I already did so much so I am not going to listen to these instructions anymore”. 


She went into the time machine before it was completely initialized and ready to go. “I can’t take this anymore, we have to press the button!!!”. Riley was impatient and hit the GO button. Something terrible started to happen. “No Anxiety!” It felt like an earthquake. After a few minutes she realized that she went back in the past. As soon as she got out of the time machine, she saw a bunch of girls both from her original friend group and the popular group. She thought to herself that this was her opportunity to redeem herself and make things right. Riley started walking to her original friends when Val called her and asked her to join them. This time with humility she apologized and said that while she would like to hang out with everyone, she prefers to spend more time with her friends.



After spending some time with her friends, she went back to the machine and pressed the button to go back now that her job was done but nothing happened. she kept pressing it and nothing happened. It seemed something was wrong. Riley tried to find every way to get this machine moving but it didn’t move. She decided to take a pause and not panic. Riley sat down and was thinking to herself that she was glad to have the opportunity to go back in time and correct a mistake she had made. ”Anxiety, this is good that you did the right thing but sometimes the things that you think that is best for Riley are not”. ”Thank you Joy, I just didn’t realize that I was getting out of control and not making Riley feel right about herself”. She felt content in her heart. Then suddenly, there was so much noise from everywhere and the time machine started to work and she was on her way back to the present. Riley was excited to get back to normal life and spend time with her friends. ”Aha we finally get to go back to a normal life isn’t that right Pouchie”. “Sure is!”


Through this journey Riley realized that you have to think about your thoughts first and then say it. Riley didn’t understand that before but now she apologized to her friends and never spoke to Val’s group ever again.

  In my school, 5th graders get to go to an awesome place called J.A biz town. This is a place where we get to learn about jobs in the real world and get to experience them. These are some companies that provide job experiences at J.A biz town: Swaco, Donatos, Meta and Huntington Bank. As part of this experience, the 5th graders have to choose a mayor of the town. When I heard about this opportunity, I was extremely excited and wanted to run for mayor. There were 2 elections, class election and grade election. I had a few days to prepare a speech. Life lessons in the pool: Swimming my way to success!

    Every lap is a lesson overcoming challenges. Every race, a chapter in the ongoing narrative of self-discovery. Hello readers, today I am going to be sharing my 5 lessons that I learnt through my 2024 long course swimming season. 1. Mental preparation I struggled to grasp the concept of mental preparation. To me, it meant strategizing about my upcoming swim meet, focusing on potential time drops, and developing race plans. Previously, I only started preparing 2 days before a competition, relying on my dad's reminders about stretching and tracking my times. Unforgettable weekend at the Smoky Mountains

    On July 27, 2024, my parents and I embarked on an exciting vacation to the Smoky Mountains. Our journey began with a six-hour drive from our home in Columbus to the beautiful town of Gatlinburg, Tennessee. As we ascended into the higher elevation of Tennessee, I could feel my ears popping due to the change in altitude. We stayed at a delightful Airbnb nestled on a sloping hillside. The highlight of the rental was the hot tub, which offered breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. There was a pool table as well which my dad & I played a couple of rounds as well. Our vacation was filled with adventure. We embarked on a couple of exhilarating outdoor pursuits: hiking and white water rafting. The white water rafting experience was undoubtedly my favorite.
